2025 Queensland Junior Championship Set to Ignite Townsville
The 2025 Queensland Junior Championship is a cornerstone event on the Squash Queensland calendar, serving as the premier competition for junior athletes across the state. Set to take place from 30 June to 5 July at the Townsville Squash Centre, the championship will bring together the most talented junior squash players from Queensland’s four regional zones: Northern, Central, Southern, and Brisbane City to compete for individual and team honours.
This prestigious tournament not only crowns the state's top young talent but also plays a vital role in athlete development, providing a platform for emerging players to gain competitive experience, refine their skills under pressure, and represent their region with pride. Townsville is a key hub for our Northern Region with connections to ADF Squash, JCU’s Squash Community and the re-branded Townsville Squash Club which will provide a vibrant backdrop for this significant event.
This year’s competition features a dynamic mix of seasoned players and rising stars. Among the standout athletes are Sarbani Maitra and Josh Raj, both of whom have recently been selected to represent Australia at the 2025 World Junior Championships in Egypt. The QJC tournament will feature players recently named in the Squash Australia ‘Talent Squad’ and ‘Next Gen Squad’ who have been identified as junior players promising great results in World Junior Championships. Players from these squads competing in the QJC include Lilly Wilson, Joel Raj, James Boswell, Kai Dumbleton, Grayson Coleman, Levi Moxey, Abbey Boswell, Riyo Kawabata and Isabella Wilcox.
Equally important are the many competitors who will be experiencing their first Queensland Junior Championship. For these newcomers, the event marks a key milestone in their sporting journey, offering not only high-level match play but also the chance to forge friendships, build confidence, and gain valuable insight into the sport's competitive environment.
